Dylan McDermott returns to 'American Horror Story' for another run of sexy terror

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "American Horror Story" is adding a very familiar face for its second season - and it's quite the last-minute addition.

Dylan McDermott, who starred as philandering husband Ben Harmon in the first season, and met his demise in the season finale, is coming back to the series.

"American Horror Story" co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news on his twitter account Wednesday, writing, "So thrilled to announce Dylan McDermott is returning to American Horror Story!"

Murphy did not elaborate on the nature of McDermott's character, and a spokeswoman for FX has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

The second season, which is dubbed "American Horror Story: Asylum" and premieres on FX on Wednesday night, brought back several cast members from its first season, including Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and Zachary Quinto, though they will be playing different roles than in the first season. While the first season took place in Los Angeles, the second season is set in an East Coast insane asylum.

"American Horror Story: Asylum" boasts an impressively massive cast, including Chloe Sevigny, James Cromwell, Adam Levine and Lange. The series has also signed on a number of guest stars, including former "Deadwood' star Ian McShane and "Breaking Bad" star Mark Margolis.
